1. Does anyone know if 3rd party tools exist for
the following:
a. yk2 compliant admin tools for a DB6 post office?
b. migration tool from DB8 to Exchange 5.5
2. We are a site with DB6 post offices migrating
to MS Exchange. Due to funding limitations, full migration to Exchange
will not be completed prior to year 2000. We do not want to upgrade
the DB6 post offices to DB8 and are researching if there is a product(s)
on the market which would enable us to maintain the DB6 post offices
into year 2000 until migration to Exchange is completed.
3. If we are required to upgrade to DB8, we would
then need a migration tool from DB8 to Exchange 5.5.
4. If anyone has info or a work around please let me know.
Dee
Dolores,
Lotus would have to provide Y2K DB6 tools and it's not going to happen.
They just affirmed today that DB6 will not be supported in the future.
If you want to stay with cc:Mail, you'll have to go to DB8. It's much
better anyway.
I had looked at this issue considering what we could do with VIM but,
while we could provide some tools, it wouldn't be enough. For example,
we can't analyze or reclaim a database with VIM. The API is too high-level
and it restricts us for security reasons, i.e., we can't decrypt data
directly through VIM.
Even our purging tool has to use a change function for passwords because
we can't read them. This introduces issues that there is no really
good solution for that in some environments security policy would
disallow.
